Bermudian Cricketers See Mixed Fortunes in UK and Scotland

Bermuda's cricketers plying their trade overseas experienced a weekend of varied results across leagues in England and Scotland.

In Bristol, Chare Smith and his Frenchay Cricket Club teammates went down by 5 wickets to Knowle CC, Bristol. After being sent in to bat, Frenchay were bowled out for 138, with Max Richards top-scoring with 25 and Smith adding 8 runs. Mohib Ahmadzai was the pick of the Knowle bowlers, claiming 3 wickets for just 8 runs. In reply, Knowle successfully chased the target, scoring 142 for 5. Ahmadzai also led their batting with 32, while Smith took 2 wickets for 43 runs from 7.5 overs for Frenchay.

Meanwhile, in Scotland, Dennico Hollis played a starring role as his The Tryst teammates secured a narrow 2-wicket victory over Renfrew in the Western Championship Two. Playing for the second team at King George V Playing Fields, Hollis contributed with both bat and ball. Renfrew batted first, posting 222 for 9 in their allotted 40 overs, with Guneet Dhaliwal and Hijratullah Omarkhil both scoring half-centuries. Robert Angus took 2 wickets for 22 for The Tryst, with Hollis contributing 1 wicket for 43 runs from his 8 overs. In a tense chase, The Tryst reached their target, scoring 224 for 8. Hollis was the hero with the bat, top-scoring with an unbeaten 65 runs off just 60 balls, an innings that included 5 fours, guiding his team to victory.

Elsewhere in Bristol, Cameron Jeffers and his Bristol West Indian Phoenix CC secured a comfortable 10-wicket victory over Pak Bristolians CC. Pak Bristolians CC were bowled out for just 96, with S Razaq scoring 43 not out. M Jones was the pick of the Phoenix bowlers, taking an impressive 5 wickets for 28 runs from 8 overs. In a dominant chase, Bristol West Indian Phoenix CC reached their target with 100 for no loss, led by V Mamgai's unbeaten 51.
