Bermuda continued their preparations for the upcoming ICC Americas Men’s T20 Qualifiers in Canada, securing an 18-run victory over the Bahamas in their second warm-up match at the Maple Leaf Cricket Club.
Despite the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the ICC investigation into host nation Canada, preparations for the tournament's opening day on Sunday appear to be proceeding as planned.
Bermuda Won by 18 Runs
Bermuda 163/6 Bahamas 145/5
Bermuda won the toss and elected to bat first, posting a total of 163 for 6 from their allotted 20 overs. Their innings got off to a shaky start, recovering from a precarious 8 for 2, largely thanks to a crucial 118-run third-wicket partnership between Delray Rawlins and Onias Bascome. Rawlins was the top scorer with an impressive 77 runs from 57 balls, an innings punctuated by 6 fours and 4 sixes. Bascome provided explosive support, adding 54 runs from just 34 balls, including 3 fours and 5 sixes.
In reply, the Bahamas were restricted to 145 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs. Marc Taylor was the top scorer for the Bahamas with a resilient unbeaten knock of 71. Delray Rawlins completed a strong all-round performance by also being the pick of the Bermuda bowlers, returning figures of two wickets for 26 runs from his four overs.
This second warm-up victory will provide Bermuda with further confidence and valuable match practice as they fine-tune their strategies ahead of the start of the ICC Americas Men’s T20 Qualifiers.
