Bermudian Offshore Racer Flips at Guntersville HydroFest

IslandStats.com
It appears that turning over in races has become an unfortunate trend for Bermudian boats competing in OffShore Super Stock Class racing this season.

Following the dramatic flip of S-12 NUFF SAID / Team Bermuda, crewed by Luis Martins and Andy Stoneham, back in May, it was the turn of S-25 GL Construction / S-25 Team Bermuda at the recent Guntersville Lake HydroFest.

The experienced duo of David Selley and Steven Bridges were at the helm of their newly coloured black boat when they were reportedly crossed in front of by Team Celsius. The contact sent Selley and Bridges' boat airborne in a dramatic incident.

Thankfully, both Selley and Bridges were promptly attended to by rescue crews and safely returned to shore, avoiding serious injury.

Reflecting on the incident, Selley and Bridges issued a statement: "Lots of work to do and yet again, thanks to Shaun Torrente’s team who jumped in to help!! We can’t thank them enough! Thanks to our team for all their help this weekend as well. Will do our best to be at the next race in Lake of the Ozarks."

Their determination to return to the water quickly highlights the resilience often seen in offshore racing. However, the incident marks another challenging moment for Bermudian teams in the Super Stock Class this season. The team will now face a significant effort to repair their boat in time for the next race in Lake of the Ozarks.
