Bermuda’s National Men’s Bowling Team departs the island this week, setting their sights on the Dominican Republic where they will compete in the prestigious Central American and Caribbean Bowling Confederation Championships. The tournament, running from June 1st to June 8th, 2025, serves as the crucial qualification event for the next CAC Games.
The experienced six-man team, comprising David Maycock, Damien Matthews, Dayvon Tucker, Michael Honore, Jamel Bean, and Blake Raynor, will be vying for qualification across a range of disciplines. They will compete in the men’s singles, doubles, trios, and the highly regarded team events. Each event will feature six qualifying games to determine the gold, silver, and bronze medallists.
The stakes are high for the team, as the combined total all-events scores of the top five bowlers from each participating country will determine which nine nations join the automatically qualified host country at the next CAC Games.
Bermuda’s squad boasts a wealth of experience on the international bowling scene. Both David Maycock and Dayvon Tucker were part of the Bermuda team that reached the round of 16 at the Bowling World Cup held in Hong Kong, China, earlier this year in January. Furthermore, the pairing of Damien Matthews and David Maycock have tasted success at the CAC Games before, winning a silver medal in the men’s trios event at the 2018 edition of the Games.
With their blend of youth and experience, the Bermuda National Men’s Bowling Team will be aiming to draw upon their past successes and strong performances to secure a coveted spot for the island at the next CAC Games in the Dominican Republic.
