The Flora Duffy South Field Stadium at the National Sports Center played host to the Bermuda National Athletics Association's 2025 Clevonte Lodge-Bean Sprint Classic, a day dedicated to showcasing the island's young sprinting talent. Several impressive performances highlighted the future of Bermudian track and field.
In the Under 17 Boys 400 Meter Dash, Surii Russell emerged victorious, crossing the finish line in a time of 57.21 seconds. Evan Andrade secured second place in 59.17 seconds, while Keni Hall rounded out the podium finishers with a time of 1 minute and 9.17 seconds.
The 11 & 12 Year Old Girls 400 Meter Dash saw a dominant performance from Sukanya Jobson. Jobson, known for her middle-distance prowess, showcased her versatility by winning the event in a swift 59.88 seconds. Mylah Desilva finished second in 1 minute and 4.38 seconds, with Leydi Raynor claiming third place in 1 minute and 6.83 seconds.
Norre Robinson demonstrated his speed in the Under 20 Boys 200 Meter Dash, clocking a winning time of 21.77 seconds. Roman Jones secured second place in 24.11 seconds, and Pedro Durrant finished third with a time of 24.28 seconds.
The Under 17 Girls 200 Meter Dash saw Amara Samuels take the top spot, crossing the line in 25.57 seconds. Kelise Wade finished second in 26.54 seconds, while Zakhya Scott completed the podium in third place with a time of 26.60 seconds.
The Clevonte Lodge-Bean Sprint Classic provided an exciting platform for Bermuda's young athletes to test their sprinting abilities, with several impressive times recorded across the various age groups. The performances on display suggest a promising future for sprinting in Bermuda.
