Montgomery & Knights Fall to Ottawa

IslandStats.com
In typical fashion when the Ottawa 67’s and Blake Montgomery and his London Knights met, it was a close contest, with barely anything separating the two teams. In the end, it was the Knights stealing the two points in a 2-1 shootout victory.

Despite both teams playing their third game in three days, it was an uppity start for the 67’s and Knights, but it didn’t result in any scoring until midway into the opening period. London worked the puck down low, before Rene Van Bommel fed rookie Logan Hawrey in the slot. Hawrey tipped it home, giving the Knights a one-goal lead.

London retained that advantage heading into the intermission, and through the second frame, as neither side could muster anything offensively short of a goal post or crossbar.

That lead looked like it could be golden for the Knights as time wound down in the third period. With the clock the 67’s enemy, Will Gerrior beat the London goaltender over the shoulder, tying the game, and effectively sending it to overtime, which resolved nothing.

A shootout was needed to decide a winner, which also went well beyond the regular three shots, but in the end, it was London snagging a 2-1 win.
