Nesbeth & Florida State Win ACC Championships

IslandStats.com
Leilanni Nesbeth and her No. 1 Florida State Women's Soccer teammates dominated from start to finish in a 4 - 0 win over Duke at Koskinen Field in Durham, N.C. to clinch a share of their sixth ACC Regular Season Championship. This is the first time in school history that FSU has won back-to-back ACC Regular Season Championships.

Both teams got some great looks in the first half, but it was Florida State who converted in the 29th minute as Jordynn Dudley made a beautiful move to get past her defender and dished it off to a wide-open Kaitlyn Zipay who scored her second goal of the season to put them on the board.

As has been the theme of the season, FSU came out strong in the second half, and it took just eight minutes for FSU to get on the board as Beata Olsson sent a perfect ball to the back post, Onyi Ecehgini was there for the header for her 10th goal of the season to give FSU a 2 - 0 lead.

Just five minutes later, Echegini struck again as she received a ball from Taylor Huff, and Echegini fired a shot from just beyond the 18-yard box that found the top right corner of the net for her second brace in three games. Huff added one final goal in the 65th minute, but it was an important one as it broke the school record for most goals in ACC play throughout a 10-game schedule. Huff’s goal was assisted by Sophia Nguyen, and Nesbeth. FSU has now scored 31 goals in ACC play which broke the 2021 record of 30 goals in ACC play.

Cristina Roque was once again fantastic in the goal for the Seminoles as she recorded her seventh shutout. The win gave Roque 50 career wins in goal becoming just the third Seminole to eclipse the 50-win mark joining Kelsey Wys and Cassie Miller.
