Bermuda’s Raishun Burch and Erin Smith have teamed up to offer opportunities for fellow Equestrian riders with the A Leg Up Foundation (ALU).
The ALU is off to its unofficial start and welcomed 14 year old Kamali Tucker from Bermuda.
ALU founded by its two long term friends and equestrians Burch and Smith look to provide up and coming equestrians opportunities that may at times appear out of their grasp.
Week one kicked off with multiple training sessions from Burch co-founder and coach.
By midweek Tucker entered the ring on her loaned mount Firefly for her first schooling show at the 0.95m.
The new pair performed well and competed at the PeelBergen Pro Tour Competition. Tucker ended the weekend moving up from the 0.95 class to 1.05 class. In a large class the newly formed team walked away with a respectable 17th place due to an unlucky rail resulting in 4 faults.
Smith said, “We are looking forward to week two where we will welcome international rider from Qatar -Bassem Hassan Mohammed for Tucker to clinic with.
Mohammed is in the top World Rankings and GCT Rider, Olympian and Asian Games Gold Medalist.
We expect many more opportunities as our foundation grows.
A huge thank you to our affiliates and barn families who have made this possible!
Especially those who provided Horses for this experience such as Megan O’Theil - Shamrock Manor Equestrian, Marten Frehe-Siermann and Smith herself.”
