Bermuda Dressage Juniors Finish 3rd in New York

The Bermuda Dressage Group junior members, Robin Stempel, Kelsey Amos and Maya DaSilveria secured very commendable performances at the 2018 Youth Dressage Festival in Saugerties, New York.

Stempel riding her new horse, Rossano Royal 2, finished in 1st in the Third Level Division, whilst Amos, riding Queen’s Faithfully, finished 4th in the FEI Children’s Division.

Amos was awarded the UVM Roseanna Memorial Trophy for the highest score achieved whilst competing on a Morgan bred horse.

Youngest of the team, DaSilveria, riding Mae West finished 2nd in the Walk, Trot & Canter – 12 Years & Under Division.

Overall the Bermuda team finished 3rd in their Division and 12th out of a total of 45 teams.

National Dressage Coach, Angela Halloran Smith, who accompanied the three young Dressage riders, was extremely pleased with their performances in this very competitive event.

Harness Pony Racing Juniors Heading Abroad

Bermuda Harness Pony Racing Junior Drivers Tahzii Flood, Ryan Manders, Casey Truran, Christian Truran, Kiwon Waldron, Candyce Martins, Kayla Caldwell, Christian Roque, Lucas Bridges, Amber Bridges, Nahje Landy and Jordan Viera will have the opportunity of a life time when the travel to the Meadowland’s for Stake Racing.

Charles Whited Jr. the President of the club decided to offer the juniors the chance to be around professional driving and just to see how things are done on another level.

Minors Talks Grand Prix & CAC Games

Minors & JUST ASK ERIC in Action
As www.islandstats.com reported yesterday Ki-Juan Minors competed in the Sunshine and Show Jumping Grand Prix Summer Series at Fox Lea Farm in Venice, Florida.

A day after we reported his results we spoke to Minors to get his take on this past weekend’s event and how things are shaping up for the CAC Games in Columbia.

Minors said, “We competed this weekend at the Fox Lea Sunshine Summer Series in Venice Florida, to get one last show before the Central American Games July 26th – 29th, aboard JUST ASK ERIC a 10 year old Thoroughbred once racehorse turned Show Jumper we had great results, feeling strong each day of competition.”

Minors concluded, “We have just returned back to Wellington Florida to regroup, and prepare for our trip to Colombia where Eric fly’s on the 22nd of July to get adjusted to the high altitude and temperature change from 90 degrees in Florida to 50 degrees in Bogota. That is my main concern that he fly’s comfortably and is healthy and ready to compete when we arrive. We have had huge support from my family with assisting the in expenses of this journey and I cannot thank them enough. It takes a village!”

Minors & Terceira Conclude Competing

Ki-Juan Minors
Ki-Juan Minors competed in the Sunshine and Show Jumping Grand Prix Summer Series at Fox Lea Farm in Venice, Florida.

Minors and Just Ask Eric are putting the final touches on their preparation for the CAC Games in Columbia.

Competing in the $25,000 National Grand Prix, Minors and Just Ask Eric finished 6th, the pair would then compete in the $5000 WELCOME STAKES, they were unlucky knocking down 1 rail and finished 7th.

Meanwhile Jillian Terceira concluded competing in the Knokke Hippique International Horse Jumping event in Belgium.

Terceira and Tamerino competing in the CSI3* 1.40m in Two Phases Class finished 20th, they clocked a Clear First Phase time of 49.40, the pair would then clock a Second Phase time of 32.20, but they had 4 Penalty Fault Points.

Competing in the same Class riding Chakova, Terceira finished 49th, they clocked a time of 77.41, but they had 23 Penalty Fault Points.

Terceira Continued Competing in the Belgium

Jillian Terceira was back in action competing in the Knokke Hippique International Horse Jumping event in Belgium.

Terceira competed on two horses in the CSI2* 1.35m in Two Phases Class, Terceira and Iluna Di Cantero would finish 51st, the pair would record a Clear First Phase time of 46.38, but their Second Phase had a 8 Penalty Fault time of 32.35.

Terceira and Amarulla finished 61st, they clocked a First Phase time of 47.16, but they had 4 Penalty Fault Points.

Terceira and Gabbiano 11 finished 46th competing in the Ladies CSI3* & CSI2* 1.45m Table A with Jump Off Class, they clocked a time of 84.38, but they also had 12 Penalty Fault Points.
