Cal State Fullerton erased a three-point halftime deficit with a big second half on the way to a 59 - 49 win over David Patrick’s Sacramento State at Titan Gym.
The loss snapped Sacramento State’s three-game winning streak, and dropped the team to 6 - 6. Cal State Fullerton, which won the Big West Tournament Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament a season ago, improved to 6 - 6.
Both teams played stout defense throughout as Sacramento State was limited to 37% shooting while Cal State Fullerton shot 38%. Sacramento State’s 49 points were a season low.
After Sacramento State entered the break with a 27-24 lead, Cal State outscored Sacramento State, 35-22, in the second half. That included a 20-4 run that spanned 10 minutes of game clock and allowed Fullerton to take control.
