Georgetown thought they would have an easy road to the Finals, but they didn’t anticipate the game being decided in the last 2 minutes.
In a high school tournament in Ontario, Canada hosted by Georgetown District High School, Team Bermuda able to execute its offense in the first half receiving balanced scoring from the starters. Behind by 2 in the 1st quarter, Bermuda got help off the bench from Dion Easton and Donovan Lvingston who contributed to the 33-29 half-time lead.
Georgetown would make adjustments in the 3rd quarter, stifling our offensive flow, however we were able to do the same, limiting their big man, Sebastian Beckett, to only 2 points. What was confirmed today, was when Bermuda execute, positive things happen.
Unfortunately, Bermua allowed themselves to get taken out of the game early in the 4th quarter. Late in the game, Bermuda had opportunities, but we either turned the ball over or committed defensive errors. Bermuda found ourselves having to foul to stop the clock, but they ensured the ball was in their best players hands. In the end, our lack of poise and execution cost us the game and we lost 54-48.
Alex Garvey paced Georgetown with 21 points providing clutch free throw shooting in the waning minutes of the game, while Sebastian Beckett provided interior scoring 14 points.
Bermuda was led by Kieron Dill who scored 16 points, while Dion Easton added 12 points.
