Bermuda’s equestrian community is set for a significant developmental boost this weekend as the Bermuda Equestrian Federation hosts international coach and course designer Jaime Morillo for an intensive FEI Solidarity programme.
Staged at the National Equestrian Centre on Vesey Street, Devonshire, the two-day clinic aims to elevate technical standards across the island, providing local riders, coaches, and young athletes with direct exposure to elite global equestrian methodology.
Morillo, an esteemed FEI Level 3 course designer and coach, brings a wealth of international experience across the Americas and Europe. His visit forms part of the global governing body’s FEI Solidarity initiative, designed to strengthen national federations through targeted coaching education and athlete development pathways.
The weekend programme blends classroom theory with live arena competition, giving participants an end-to-end look at modern course architecture and tactical preparation.
Proceedings get under way on Saturday, October 10th, with an unmounted education session from 5:00 to 6:30 pm at Vesey Street.
The session offers local riders and trainers an intimate forum to dissect the finer points of show jumping course design. Morillo will focus on technical line-building, stride management, horse welfare, and the strategic preparation required to progress from domestic rings to international competition standards.
The classroom concepts will be put directly into action on Sunday, October 11th, during a Jumper Schooling Show.
Competitors will navigate courses constructed under Morillo’s guidance, allowing participants to test their adjustments in a practical competition setting while receiving real-time evaluation.
BEF officials highlighted the long-term significance of such initiatives, emphasising that access to world-class clinicians remains vital as Bermuda continues to nurture its next generation of overseas and regional Games contenders.
