Four-run sixth inning powers Monarchs past Goldeyes

IslandStats.com
The Kansas City Monarchs produced a decisive four-run outburst in the sixth inning to overturn an early deficit and defeat Adam Hall and the Winnipeg Goldeyes 7-3 at Legends Field.

Infielder Hall finished 1-for-4 from the plate and scored once, contributing to an explosive opening frame for Winnipeg before the hosts clamped down defensively.

The Goldeyes struck first with a three-run burst in the top of the first inning. Roby Enríquez and Hall ignited the rally with consecutive one-out singles before Ray-Patrick Didder ripped a double to left field to drive home Enríquez. Noah Marcelo followed with a sharp base hit to bring Hall across the plate, and Keshawn Lynch capped the surge with an RBI single to centre to score Didder.

Kansas City responded immediately in the bottom half. Tyler Gentry drew a leadoff walk and Austin Callahan singled before Luken Baker brought Gentry home on a groundout to trim the margin to 3-1.

The Monarchs drew level in the bottom of the third through back-to-back solo home runs from Callahan and Baker, knotting the contest at 3-3.

The game tilted definitively in Kansas City's favour in the sixth:

Valenzuela breaks the tie: Grant Richardson reached base, stole second, and scored when Sahid Valenzuela delivered a two-out RBI single to right field.

Head clears the fences: Hudson Head followed by launching a two-run homer to left to stretch the lead to 6-3.

Wild pitch extends cushion: José Torres scampered home from third base on a wild pitch to cap a four-run frame and establish a 7-3 advantage.

Winnipeg’s offence was silenced over the closing frames as the Monarchs bullpen preserved the lead to close out the victory.
