Standout Adam Hall produced a sharp display at the plate, but his Winnipeg Goldeyes fell to a heavy 17-7 defeat against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in an encounter concluded more than two months after it first began.
The contest originally got underway on 15 June at Newman Outdoor Field before torrential rain forced play to be suspended in the top of the fourth inning. When action finally resumed, the Goldeyes mounted a mid-game fightback before the RedHawks pulled clear once again.
Despite the lopsided scoreline, Hall maintained his fine individual form for Winnipeg, going 3-for-5 from the batter's box and crossing home plate for a run.
Fargo-Moorhead seized control from the outset during the June segment of the game. First baseman José Sermo launched a three-run homer in the first inning to set the tone, followed by a relentless six-run barrage in the second that included a solo shot from Brian Fuentes and a two-run double by Dillon Thomas.
Thomas extended the lead in the third with a two-run homer to push the advantage to 11-1 before the weather intervened, leaving the Goldeyes with two runners on and no outs in the fourth.
When play resumed on Tuesday evening, Winnipeg showed immediate resolve:
Fourth Inning Response: Ray-Patrick Didder came off the bench to lace a two-run double to centre field, scoring Ramón Bramasco and Roby Enríquez.
Hall Fuels Fifth-Inning Push: In the fifth, Hall sparked a rally with a clean single, later crossing the plate on Max Murphy's base hit before Bramasco drove home Murphy to make it 12-5.
Bramasco Strikes Again: An inning later, Bramasco collected his third and fourth RBIs of the evening, singling home Keshawn Lynch and Noah Marcelo to pull the Goldeyes within striking distance at 12-7.
However, the RedHawks snuffed out any hopes of an improbable comeback, adding five unanswered runs over the closing frames to seal an emphatic 17-7 victory.
