Sioux City Explorers power past Hall's Goldeyes
The Sioux City Explorers capitalized on an explosive start to defeat Adam Hall and the Winnipeg Goldeyes 8-5 at Lewis & Clark Park.

A five-run blitz across the opening two innings put the hosts firmly in control, and despite a mid-game fightback led by Ray-Patrick Didder's 18th home run of the season, Winnipeg were unable to overturn the early deficit.

Explorers Seize Early Control

Sioux City set the tone in the bottom of the first inning with a two-out rally. Henry George got things moving with a double to left before scoring on Alberto Osuna's single. After D'Shawn Knowles drew a walk to load the bases, Wilfredo Giménez drove a sharp two-run single into right field to bring home Braulio Vásquez and Osuna for an early 3-0 lead.

The hosts doubled down in the second when Zac Vooletich doubled and George delivered again, driving a single to centre field to score both Zane Denton and Vooletich to make it 5-0.

Didder Responds Before Sioux City Stretch Away

Winnipeg rallied in the top of the third. Peyton Holt singled home Max Murphy to get the Goldeyes on the board, before Didder launched a two-run shot over the left-field wall to slash the gap to 5-3.

However, Sioux City restored their cushion in the bottom of the fourth. An Osuna sacrifice fly scored Vooletich, before consecutive bases-loaded walks drawn by Jackson Van De Brake and Denton forced home George and Vásquez to push the score out to 8-3.

Late Goldeyes Push Falls Short

The Goldeyes continued to chip away in the latter stages. Jiandido Tromp doubled home Raphaël Pelletier in the seventh, and Pelletier added an RBI single in the ninth to score Noah Marcelo, but Sioux City held firm to close out the 8-5 victory and hand Winnipeg their 38th loss of the campaign.
