Hassert walk-off home run breaks Winnipeg hearts
Cam Hassert launched a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to propel the Sioux Falls Canaries to a thrilling 5-4 victory over Adam Hall and the Winnipeg Goldeyes at Sioux Falls Stadium.

International Hall produced a standout display at the plate for Winnipeg, finishing 2-for-3 with an RBI, a walk, and a run scored, but his efforts were not quite enough to prevent a late Canaries triumph.

Sioux Falls opened the scoring in the bottom of the second frame when Trevor Achenbach and TJ Racherbaumer singled before Joe Vos drove in Achenbach with a base hit to left. The hosts extended their advantage to 3-0 in the fourth courtesy of Vos's two-run blast to right field.

Winnipeg mounted a spirited fightback in the fifth. Peyton Holt crossed home plate on Hall’s sharp single to left, before Ramón Bramasco scored on Noah Marcelo’s follow-up base hit to trim the deficit to 3-2.

The Goldeyes seized the lead in the seventh inning. After Bramasco walked and stole second, Hall drew a walk to put two aboard. Marcelo then cleared the bases with a two-run double to left, giving Winnipeg a 4-3 advantage.

However, the Canaries responded in the eighth to level the scores at 4-4 as pinch-runner Chase Engelhard stole second and came around to score on an Anthony Hall single to left.

With one out in the bottom of the ninth, Hassert settled the contest in dramatic fashion, driving a pitch from Goldeyes reliever Derrick Cherry (1-3) over the left-field wall for the decisive walk-off homer.

Winnipeg starter James Bradwell surrendered three runs on eight hits across four innings, striking out five without issuing a walk. Aidan Newton delivered two scoreless innings in relief, before Sage Ferguson was charged with the game-tying run in the eighth.
