Lincoln Saltdogs Snap Winnipeg’s Record Winning Streak
The Lincoln Saltdogs brought Adam Hall and the Winnipeg Goldeyes’ remarkable 13-game winning streak to a grinding halt with an emphatic 12-2 victory at Haymarket Park.

Winnipeg entered the contest riding a franchise-record run of form, but a dominant offensive display from the hosts quickly put an end to their streak, with Bermudian infielder Hall kept quiet after going 0 for 3 at the plate.

Saltdogs Take Early Control

Lincoln set the tone in the bottom of the first inning when left fielder Jairo Pomares launched a two-run home run to right field to open the scoring.

The Saltdogs doubled their advantage in the fourth inning. Designated hitter Connor Bagnieski brought home Pomares with an RBI double before third baseman Calyn Halvorson singled to score Bagnieski and make it 4-0.

Center fielder Cam Phelts extended the lead to 5-0 in the fifth, driving home second baseman Paul Myro with a base hit, before Lincoln piled on three more runs in the sixth through a two-run single from Griffin Everitt and a Myro fielder’s choice.

Late Power Surge Seals Blowout

Winnipeg finally broke through in the top of the seventh when first baseman Kevin García lofted a sacrifice fly to bring home Keshawn Lynch, making it 8-1.

However, any hopes of a late comeback were swiftly extinguished in the bottom of the eighth. Pomares singled home Phelts before Bagnieski crushed a three-run home run to right field to extend the advantage to 12-1.

The Goldeyes managed a late consolation run in the top of the ninth as catcher Raphaël Pelletier singled home Lynch, but the night belonged to Lincoln as they closed out a memorable victory.
