Adam Hall delivered a standout offensive performance as the Winnipeg Goldeyes survived a spirited Kansas City Monarchs comeback to claim an 11-9 victory at Legends Field.
The infielder finished 2-for-5 with four RBIs, playing a pivotal role in a game that saw Winnipeg almost squander a commanding nine-run advantage.
After a scoreless opening inning, the Goldeyes exploded for five runs in the second. Max Murphy put Winnipeg on the board with a two-run single before Hall cleared the bases with a three-run triple into right-centre field, driving in Murphy, Kevin García and Ray-Patrick Didder to make it 5-0.
Winnipeg extended its lead to 9-0 in the third through home runs from Jiandido Tromp, Murphy and Didder, but Kansas City responded immediately with five runs of its own, highlighted by Luken Baker's three-run homer.
The Monarchs continued to chip away, reducing the deficit to 9-7 before Hall delivered again in the eighth inning, lining a single to centre field to score Murphy and restore a three-run cushion at 10-7.
Kansas City answered once more to make it 10-9, but Ramón Bramasco's ninth-inning solo home run provided valuable insurance before closer Derrick Cherry retired the side in order to seal his 10th save of the season.
Hall's four-RBI display proved decisive as Winnipeg withstood the late pressure to secure an important victory despite seeing a seemingly comfortable lead almost disappear.
