Adam Hall helped the Winnipeg Goldeyes stave off a series sweep, scoring the decisive run in a hard-fought 5-4 victory over the Lake Country DockHounds at DockHounds Ballpark.
Outfielder Hall put in a solid performance at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a run as Winnipeg held off a dramatic late-inning comeback from the hosts.
The Goldeyes took control early, breaking the deadlock in the top of the third inning:
Max Murphy reached on a fielding error before Kevin García singled to center field.
Shortstop Ray-Patrick Didder then launched a towering three-run home run to left field—his team-leading 12th of the season—bringing his RBI tally to 38.
An inning later, Winnipeg stretched their cushion to 4-0 when Keshawn Lynch tripled and was promptly driven home by Raphaël Pelletier’s RBI groundout.
That four-run advantage held until a dramatic bottom of the seventh, when Lake Country erupted for four runs to tie the ballgame:
Clayton Slack drove in Jake Snider with a two-out single to get the DockHounds on the board.
Ripken Reyes doubled to right, scoring Dylan LaRue to cut the deficit to 4-2.
Joshua Mears lined a clutch base hit to center, driving in both Slack and Reyes to level the score at 4-4.
However, Winnipeg responded immediately in the top of the eighth. Hall singled to left field before designated hitter Jiandido Tromp lined a base hit to right, driving Hall home for the winning run and sealing a vital victory.
