The Winnipeg Goldeyes officially ignited their American Association campaign, unleashing a relentless offensive masterclass to crush the Milwaukee Milkmen 9-2 at Blue Cross Park.
The emphatic victory seals the Goldeyes’ very first series sweep of the 2026 season and moves the hosts onto a scorching run of form, leaving a heavily fancied Milwaukee side with few tactical answers.
At the heart of the Winnipeg onslaught was second baseman Adam Hall. The former Major League Baseball draft pick put on a clinical display from the plate, recording a sparkling multi-hit afternoon by going 2 for 4 with a single and a lightning-fast triple to anchor the home side's middle order.
Winnipeg wasted absolutely no time setting a bruising tempo, punishing the Milkmen's starting pitching in the bottom of the first frame. After shortstop Ramón Bramasco cleanly worked his way aboard, first baseman Roby Enríquez brought the home crowd to their feet, crushing a booming two-run home run over the right-field wall to open the scoring.
The Goldeyes relentlessly doubled that advantage to 4-0 in the bottom of the third. Catcher Kevin García initiated the sequence, sliding home safely on a sharp ground out to shortstop by the productive Enríquez. Moments later, Milwaukee's control completely deserted them as third baseman Keshawn Lynch displayed superb plate discipline, drawing a bases-loaded walk that forced in centre fielder Noah Marcelo.
The floodgates completely opened in the fourth inning as Winnipeg's transition hitting went into overdrive. Marcelo triggered the phase by lining a ferocious double into the left-field corner, driving home left fielder Jiandido Tromp to move the scoreline to 5-0.
Then came the definitive blow of the afternoon. Right fielder Max Murphy stepped up to the plate and crushed a towering, majestic three-run blast deep into the left-field stands. The home run was Murphy's first of the season, but more importantly, the historical significance was not lost on the franchise. The three runs batted in leave him just two short of tying Reggie Abercrombie’s all-time club record of 393 RBIs.
Any fading thoughts of a Milwaukee recovery were thoroughly extinguished in the fifth when back-to-back doubles by the clinical tandem of Tromp and García completed the nine-run explosion.
The visitors did manage to break the shutout in the top of the seventh, taking advantage of a brief lapse in Winnipeg’s bullpen control. Second baseman Michael Hallquist walked with the bases full to allow Delvin Pérez to cross the plate, before Andrew Sundean scored on a Wendell Marrero double play ball.
However, the late minor dent did little to spoil the party. Winnipeg’s defensive unit suffocated the remaining frames with ease, ensuring Hall and his teammates could celebrate a momentous and deeply satisfying early-season statement.
