Bermudian harness racing driver Kiwon Waldron endured a testing evening of tracking and traffic at Harrah’s Hoosier Park in Indiana, driving two mid-pack finishes in a heavily contested program.
Coming off recent trips to the winner's circle on the North American circuit, Waldron was forced to display every ounce of his tactical grit as he guided his charges through highly competitive pacing and trotting fields.
Waldron’s evening began in the third race on the card, steering Yesidid in a fast-paced Pace Class encounter. Despite a clean start, the pair found themselves swallowed up in heavy traffic as the leading pack pushed a relentless tempo down the backstretch. Waldron kept his composure to cross the wire in seventh place, stopping the clock in a respectable time of one minute, fifty-six seconds flat.
The baseline test of endurance continued into the midnight hours, with Waldron returning to the sulky for the twelfth race Trot Class. Seated behind Wiggy Hill, the Bermudian driver launched a late bid as the field rounded the final turn.
While Wiggy Hill responded well under pressure, the frontrunners proved too elusive to catch in the home straight. Waldron ultimately crossed the line in sixth place with a recorded time of one minute, fifty-seven and one-fifth seconds.
While it wasn't the podium-heavy night the standardbred driver had hoped for, the valuable mileage under the lights ensured Waldron remains sharp as he continues his sustained campaign across the elite tracks of the American Midwest.
