Ki-Juan Minors, a prominent professional hunter/jumper rider and musician, has pleaded guilty to a third-degree felony charge of burglary of a structure or conveyance in a Palm Beach County court. The plea officially resolves the legal proceedings against him, following an eight-month progression through the judicial system.
Minors was originally arrested in August 2025 on a more severe charge of sexual battery, stemming from an incident involving an acquaintance following a night out in Miami on March 17th, 2025.
According to the original police report, Minors and the victim, identified in court documents as John Doe, were part of a group of five friends who visited Club Space in Miami on March 16 last year.
Doe stated to police that he lost consciousness after consuming a few alcoholic drinks, including a shot he alleged was given to him by Minors. He noted that he had no memory of arriving home or getting into bed, but woke up in the early morning hours of March 17th to find Minors sexually assaulting him.
Following his subsequent arrest in August, Minors was released on bail on August 28th, 2025, as attorneys prepared for trial.
However, court event forms reveal that the prosecutor’s office ultimately entered a nolle prosequi—a formal notice of abandonment—on the first count, dropping the primary charge of sexual battery of a victim 18 years of age or older. Minors then pleaded guilty to the remaining count of burglary and was adjudicated guilty by the court.
When questioned by reporters regarding why a sexual battery charge was reduced to a third-degree burglary conviction, Marc Freeman, Public Information Officer for the Office of State Attorney Alexcia Cox, released a statement outlining the decision.
"The decision in this case was made after a thorough and careful review by experienced prosecutors," Freeman said. "Several factors can affect the outcome of a case and the sentence imposed, including the strength of the evidence, victim/witness cooperation, prior criminal history, and legal limitations set by statute or sentencing guidelines."
Minors did not respond to requests for comment regarding the resolution of his case.
Following his guilty plea, Minors was handed a multi-layered sentence by the Palm Beach County judge. His punishment and conditions include:
Three years of probation. Three days in the Palm Beach County Jail, which was satisfied immediately with credit for three days of time already served. $618 in criminal court costs and fines.
Furthermore, the court has mandated strict special conditions for the equestrian rider. Minors must provide DNA samples and is required to enroll in and complete a psycho-sexual evaluation, along with any recommended treatment, within 30 days of his plea.
He is under a strict no-contact order protecting the victims. This includes John Doe, who connected to the sentencing hearing via Zoom to deliver an emotional victim impact statement directly to the court.
Minors is also barred from possessing or consuming alcohol or illegal narcotics without a valid medical prescription and will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing throughout his probationary period.
