The Lake Country DockHounds secured a clinical 3-1 victory over Adam Hall and the Winnipeg Goldeyes on Wednesday, as both clubs concluded their pre-season preparations at DockHounds Ballpark ahead of Friday’s highly anticipated Opening Day.
In a contest defined by early offensive efficiency and strategic bullpen management, the hosts struck quickly to build a lead that Winnipeg’s bats—despite some late-inning flashes—could not quite dismantle.
The home side wasted no time establishing dominance in the opening frame. In the bottom of the first, designated hitter Ryan Hernández showcased his clinical edge with a sharp single through the left side of the infield, driving in both Ripken Reyes and Julio Carreras to put Lake Country 2-0 up.
The pressure continued into the second inning when catcher Ryan Lee connected with a double down the left-field line. The strike brought Jack Blomgren home, stretching the DockHounds' advantage to a comfortable three runs.
The Goldeyes found their footing in the top of the fifth. Designated hitter Keshawn Lynch ignited the dugout with a powerful triple, eventually crossing the plate following a Kevin García groundout to second base.
While the strike reduced the deficit to 3-1, the comeback was curtailed by logistical constraints. With the Goldeyes exhausting their available pitching rotation after five innings, the game took on an unconventional format. Winnipeg continued to take their at-bats through the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings to gain extra live-game repetitions before the contest was officially called.
