The Bermuda Softball League exploded into life this week at the Michael Preece Softball Diamond, with an extraordinary 86 runs recorded across a triple-header of high-octane action. Pitchers found themselves under siege as the league’s power hitters took full advantage of the conditions, turning the evening into a definitive showcase of offensive clinicalness.
The headline performance of the session came from a ruthless Oddballs lineup, who dismantled Fundamental Standpoints in a 21-9 victory. While Dylan Somerville provided a bright spark for the Standpoints, going 2-for-3 with a home run and 4 RBIs, his efforts were completely overshadowed by a masterclass from Adam Feros. In a near-perfect display of hitting, Feros went 5-for-5 at the plate, tallying two triples and two home runs. His staggering 8-RBI haul served as the backbone of the Oddballs' dominant display, leaving the opposition with no answers in the field.
The afternoon’s second encounter proved to be just as one-sided as the BMA cruised to a 20-1 win over a struggling Deloitte side. Andrew Simpson was the architect of the BMA charge, producing a flawless 4-for-4 performance that included a towering home run and 4 RBIs. Deloitte’s lone resistance came through Matthew Booth, who managed 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, but the gap in quality across the diamonds was evident from the opening inning as BMA surged to a commanding lead they would never relinquish.
However, the game of the day was undoubtedly the nail-biting thriller between the Allstars and Killawhats. In a contest that swung back and forth until the final out, the Allstars narrowly edged a 18-17 victory. Brian Hall was the standout for the winning side, providing a 4-for-4 afternoon that included a double, a home run, and 6 crucial RBIs. He was pushed every step of the way by the Killawhats' Shaquille Pitcher, who delivered an incredible 5-for-5 performance with two doubles and two home runs. Despite Pitcher’s heroics and 4 RBIs, the Killawhats fell just one run short in a match that will surely go down as one of the season’s most competitive fixtures.
