The 2026 GNOSIS Bermuda National Squash Championships continued with a grueling session at the Bermuda Squash Club in Devonshire, as several matches across the divisions were pushed to the absolute limit.
The Men’s B Division provided the most sustained drama of the night, featuring two high-stakes encounters that required five games to settle. Craig Deuchrass emerged victorious in a pulsating battle against Rocco Adderley, eventually clinching a 3-2 win. Deuchrass showed immense character to recover from dropping a tight first game 12-10, battling back to take the second 11-5. Despite Adderley regaining the lead in the third, Deuchrass stayed composed to level the match and eventually edged a nervous final-set tiebreak 12-10.
There was a similarly exhausting contest for Benjamin Sherratt, who outlasted Philip Barnes in another 3-2 thriller. Much like the Deuchrass match, this was a see-saw affair characterized by long rallies and tactical patience. Sherratt found himself trailing after the opening game but remained resilient, eventually securing the deciding set 11-9 to confirm his place in the next round.
The marathon trend continued into the Men's C Division, where Kevin Gillespie and Kleyon-Paul White engaged in a physical five-set struggle. Gillespie started the stronger, taking the first 11-8, but found himself on the back foot as White stormed into a 2-1 lead. Showing superior stamina in the closing stages, Gillespie dominated the final two games, conceding just seven points across both to seal the comeback.
Veteran endurance was also on full display in the Men's Vets Over 40 Division. Nick Leach survived a stern test from Derek Wheeler in a match that mirrored the intensity of the open brackets. Despite Wheeler holding a 2-1 lead after three games, Leach utilized his experience to tilt the momentum back in his favor. After forcing a decider with an 11-9 win in the fourth, Leach pulled away in the final set to record an 11-5 victory and keep his championship aspirations alive.
