Junior Star Flood Steals the Show at FEI Jumping Challenge

The Bermuda Equestrian Federation has officially launched the opening leg of the FEI Jumping World Challenge at the National Equestrian Centre on Vesey Street. As the first of a three-part series designed to test the island's elite horse and rider combinations, the afternoon provided a rigorous technical challenge across three distinct categories.

The standout performance of the day belonged to junior rider Logan Flood, who delivered a masterclass in composure during her debut in the competition. Competing in the Category C Division at heights of 1.00m to 1.10m, Flood produced the only faultless round of the afternoon. Navigating the technical lines with precision, she stopped the clock in a time of 58.10 seconds to secure a clean sheet and a maiden victory in the prestigious event.

In the premier Category A Division, where the fences reached heights of 1.30m, JayLynn Hines asserted her authority. Partnering with Toto D’ysenbeeck Z, Hines encountered a testing track that yielded six penalty fault points. However, her aggressive pace between the obstacles ensured a winning time of 67.90 seconds, placing her in a strong position ahead of the subsequent rounds later this month.

The Category B Division saw veteran campaigner Philip Correia return to the winner's enclosure. Riding Poker Face, Correia demonstrated his trademark efficiency over the 1.10m to 1.20m obstacles. Despite picking up four penalty fault points, his blistering time of 57.76 seconds was enough to secure the top spot on the podium.

The series is far from over, with the pressure set to mount as the riders return to the National Equestrian Centre for the second competition on March 28th, before the final showdown on April 4th. These results will prove vital in determining the overall standings as Bermuda's riders aim to qualify for the global FEI finals.
