The latest round of Harness Pony Racing at the National Equestrian Center on Vesey Street saw competitive action across multiple heats, with several top drivers clocking impressive times and setting the pace for the season.
The quickest time of the day was set in the final recorded heat, Heat 12, where Candyce Martins drove Smart Machine to a blistering season-best time of 1:02&2 finish, narrowly beating the strong effort of Philip Correia and Red October who clocked 1:03 flat. Correia had earlier won Heat 6 with Red October in a time of 1:03&4.
The seventh heat saw a close battle between Teshi Zuill driving Somegoldsomewhere and Candyce Martins behind Double Time. Martins and Double Time ultimately took the fastest time in the rematch in Heat 7, clocking 1:04&2, just ahead of Zuill’s 1:04&4 effort with Somegoldsomewhere. Both drivers recorded identical times of 1:06&4 in the first heat, demonstrating their consistent pace.
Tahzii Flood secured a victory in Heat 3 with Inwood's Realist clocking 1:06&/2 and put in two strong runs with Huntinforgold, winning Heat 5 (1:07&3) and Heat 11 (1:06&4).
