The Bermuda Squash Association Club 2025 Championships are in full swing at the Devonshire club, with the Men’s and Women’s Open divisions seeing comfortable victories for the top seeds, while two lower-division battles went the full five-game distance.
In the Men's Open Division, the action saw two straight-sets victories. Noah Browne showed his class, defeating Charles Riker in three games: 11-9, 11-3, 11-5. Browne’s strong opening round performance signals his intent for the title.
He was joined in the next round by Anaya Smith, who also dispatched his opponent in straight sets. Smith overcame Alex Southern 11-9, 11-9, 11-3, though the first two games were tightly contested.
The Women's Open Division saw similar control. Eilidh Franklin progressed, defeating Alex Furtado 11-3, 11-5, 5-11, 11-1. Although Franklin dropped a game, she quickly reasserted her authority in the final frame to ensure the win. Elsewhere, Rachel Barnes secured a ruthless victory over Mckenna Kyme, conceding just two points across three games (11-1, 11-1, 11-0).
The excitement peaked in the lower divisions where two marathon matches went down to the wire.
In the Men's B Division, Mason Smith was pushed hard by Rocco Adderley. The pair traded games back and forth, but Smith secured the decisive fifth game to win 8-11, 11-4, 11-5, 8-11, 11-7.
The greatest comeback of the day belonged to Kleyon-Paul White in the Men's C Division. White found himself trailing Kevin Gillespie by two games, falling 7-11 and 8-11. However, demonstrating immense grit, White rallied to take the next three games in succession (11-9, 11-6, 11-8), completing a thrilling reverse sweep and booking his place in the next round.
