Bermudian rider Kayla Bardgett helped the SCAD Savannah Equestrian team mark the 35th anniversary of the Tournament of Champions Series with a strong start to the new season, competing in the opener hosted by Goucher College.
SCAD, a perennial powerhouse in collegiate equestrian, fielded two teams in the highly competitive cross-regional field of 12. Both SCAD teams secured top-four finishes in the overall standings: SCAD BEE-Strong, which included Bardgett, finished in third place with 36 points, while SCAD BEE-Power finished just behind in fourth with 24 points.
The event featured classes dedicated to testing both jumping and flatwork skills, with 12 competitors taking part at each level of the Low and High Medal special classes.
Bardgett delivered an excellent individual performance in the Open Flat Class, securing a second-place finish. This result contributes vital points to the team’s overall score and demonstrates Bardgett’s high level of competitiveness in her discipline.
The results provide a successful kickoff for the SCAD programme and Bardgett as they look ahead to the demanding 2025/2026 collegiate equestrian season.
