The Bermuda Senior Squash team is set to travel to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil next week to compete in the 2025 Pan American Squash Championships, a crucial event for the team's ambitions.
The team will be competing in individuals, teams, and doubles draws from August 21st to the 27th. The tournament holds added significance as the team portion of the event will serve as a qualifier for next year's CAC Games in the Dominican Republic. To secure a spot, Bermuda must finish in the top five among eligible countries.
Leading the Men's Division will be a strong contingent of players, including Taylor Carrick, Micah Franklin, Noah Browne, and Anaya Smith. The Women's team is equally formidable, with Sydney Wallace, Abigail Brewer, Rachel Barnes, and Charlotte Toogood all set to compete.
Should the team not secure a qualifying spot in Brazil, a second opportunity awaits them at the Senior Caribbean Squash Championships, which will be held in Kingston, Jamaica, from November 24th to the 28th. The team is confident that their performances in Rio will set them on the path to qualification for the CAC Games.
