Nicholas Lopes has capped off a remarkable performance at the Kentucky Summer Horse Show by being named the Champion for the Week. His impressive form was highlighted by a significant victory in the 1.40m AM/JR Jumper Table II 2(b) with a Jump-Off Class.
Lopes, riding Aquiles Del Caribe Z, delivered a masterful and strategic performance to secure the win. The pair navigated the initial course with precision, achieving a flawless clear round in 75.73 seconds to advance to the decisive jump-off.
In the final round, Lopes and Aquiles Del Caribe Z once again showcased their exceptional partnership, executing a speedy and clear jump-off in 40.49 seconds to clinch the top spot on the podium.
Lopes also competed with his other horse, G-Star, in the same class. The pair finished in a respectable fourth place, clocking a first-round time of 77.33 seconds. However, four penalty fault points kept them from challenging for the victory.
The Champion for the Week title is a testament to Lopes's consistency and skill against a high-calibre field and marks another significant achievement in his burgeoning career on the international equestrian stage.
