Bermudian harness racing driver Kiwon Waldron enjoyed a successful outing at Harrah's Hoosier Park in Indiana, highlighted by a trip to the winner's circle. Despite a late start to his racing card, Waldron demonstrated his skill across both Pace and Trot classes.
Waldron's evening began with RACE 1, a Pace Class event. Piloting Run Straight Home, he guided his horse to a sixth-place finish, clocking a time of 1 minute, 57 and three-fifths seconds (1:57&3).
He then transitioned to the Trot Class for RACE 2, partnering with Black Bullet. The duo secured a respectable third-place finish, stopping the clock in 1 minute, 56 and three-fifths seconds (1:56&3).
The highlight of Waldron's night came in RACE 4, another Pace Class race. Here, Waldron and Handsome Character delivered a thrilling performance, narrowly being declared the winners in a photo finish. They posted the fastest time of the night at 1 minute, 54 and one-fifth seconds (1:54&1), marking a significant win for the Bermudian driver.
Following his victory, Waldron was back on track for RACE 5 in the Trot Class. Guiding Ima Mess, they finished fourth, with a time of 2 minutes and three-fifths seconds (2:02&3).
Waldron concluded his busy evening with RACE 7, also in the Trot Class. Partnering with Momsshowgirl, he secured another strong third-place finish, clocking 1 minute, 59 and two-fifths seconds (1:59&2).
Harness racing features two distinct gaits: the Pace and the Trot. In Pace races, horses move the legs on one side of their body in tandem (lateral gait), often aided by hobbles. Trotters, conversely, move their legs in diagonal pairs. Waldron's varied results across both classes highlight his versatility as a driver. His victory in RACE 4 will undoubtedly be a confidence booster as he continues his season at Hoosier Park.
