The Bermuda Equestrian Federation (BEF) recently hosted its Annual Prize Giving, celebrating a season of outstanding achievements across various disciplines and recognising the dedication of riders, juniors, and community stalwarts.
Abby Bardgett was undoubtedly one of the night's biggest winners, claiming multiple prestigious accolades. Bardgett was awarded the Open Equitation Medal, the 1.20m and 1.30m Jumper Divisions, the Coaches Award, and was also recognised as the Leading Adult Rider. Her impressive haul highlights a dominant season in the senior ranks.
In the junior categories, Logan Flood was the standout performer. Flood was named the top junior, winning the Modified (2’6”) Junior Equitation Division, the Junior with most points showing a pony, and the Junior with most points overall. Adding to her success, her partnership with her pony, Wild Things Island Adventure, earned them the Horse/Pony & Rider combination with the most points.
The prestigious Little Orvy Trophy for the Champion Show Jumper for the Year was awarded to JayLynn Hines with her horse Toto D’ysenbeeck Z, a testament to their consistent excellence in show jumping.
The Stable Award, presented to the stable whose members won the most points over the season, went to Breakaway Stables, acknowledging their collective success.
Beyond competitive honours, the BEF also recognised key figures for their contributions to the sport. Elka Gibbs was presented with the Welcome Home Show Spirit Award, an honour for an individual who embodies the spirit of giving back to sport. Gibbs has supported the equestrian community for over 20 years through various roles as a parent, board member, committee member, volunteer, and friend, proving invaluable in keeping equestrianism in the spotlight.
Finally, Lisa Frias received the President’s Award, recognizing her as the person most valuable to the BEF President over the past year.
The Annual Prize Giving celebrated the talent, hard work, and community spirit that underpins Bermuda's equestrian scene.
