Hall Absent as Nashville Sounds Fall to RailRiders

IslandStats.com
Bermudian outfielder Adam Hall was not in the lineup as his Nashville Sounds teammates dropped the opening game of their series against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, losing 10-5 on Friday night. The AutoZone Park crowd witnessed a combined 21 hits, with the Sounds reaching double-digit hits for the 15th time this season, but ultimately falling short.

Raynel Delgado gave Nashville the early lead with an RBI single in the bottom of the second inning, scoring Eddie Rosario, who had drawn the first of two two-out walks in the frame. After a comfortable first three innings in his return to the Nashville starting rotation, Tobias Myers encountered trouble in the top of the fourth. The RailRiders capitalized, scoring five runs to take control, aided by a couple of Nashville errors that led to three unearned runs charged to Myers.

Trailing 5-1, the Sounds managed to score on a balk in the bottom of the sixth, reducing the deficit to 5-2. However, the RailRiders extended their lead significantly in the top of the seventh, with the bulk of the damage coming from a three-run home run off Sounds reliever Jesus Liranzo, pushing the score to 9-2.

Nashville showed fight in their half of the seventh, staging a mini-comeback. Three doubles in the inning before the first out saw them cut the RailRiders' lead to 9-5. Tyler Jay then kept the scoreline unchanged with a hitless top of the eighth. Craig Yoho pitched the ninth, striking out the side, but not before a walk and a one-out double allowed Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to add another run, extending their lead to 10-5. The Sounds were unable to mount any further response, going down three-up, three-down in their final at-bats.
