The scorekeepers and umpires certainly earned their keep at the Michael Preece Softball Diamond, as a staggering 92 runs crossed the plate in another thrilling round of Bermuda Softball League action. The night was characterized by high-scoring encounters and plenty of big hits, keeping the enthusiastic crowd on the edge of their seats.
The evening kicked off with a barnburner that saw a total of 35 runs scored. The Paraquet Flyers narrowly edged out The Kings in a pulsating 18-17 victory.
Manuel Herrera was a key offensive force for the Flyers, going 3 for 5 at the plate, including two home runs and driving in four runs. For The Kings, Richard Campbell had an incredible night individually, going a perfect 5 for 5 with an astonishing four triples and six RBIs, though his heroics weren't enough to secure the win for his team.
Game two of the night continued the run-scoring trend, producing 24 runs as the Moongate Brewers delivered a dominant performance to defeat the Hakuna Matata Lions 20-4.
Steven Simons put on an absolute power-hitting clinic for the Brewers, going a perfect 4 for 4 at the plate and incredibly smashing four home runs while driving in nine runs. For the Hakuna Matata Lions, Brian Hall and Marco Almeida both managed a hit in their two at-bats, each connecting for a home run and an RBI.
The final match of the night saw another high-scoring affair, with 33 runs crossing the plate as Platano Power proved too strong for the Beach Bums, securing a 23-10 victory.
Geolito Catalino led the charge for Platano Power, going 4 for 5 with a double and two home runs while driving in five runs. His teammate Yefer Binicio also had a productive night at the plate, going 4 for 5 with two doubles, a home run, and five RBIs. Despite the offensive firepower from Platano Power, Ryan Stearns put in a strong individual performance for the Beach Bums, going 4 for 5 with a home run and four RBIs.
