Adam Hall and his Nashville Sounds teammates suffered a heartbreaking 10-6 extra-innings defeat to the Norfolk Tides on Wednesday night, despite a late comeback at First Horizon Park. After trailing by four runs late in the game, the Sounds rallied with a four-run sixth inning to level the score, but Norfolk ultimately pulled away in the tenth.
With the score locked at 6-6 after nine tense innings, Sounds reliever Jesus Liranzo was called upon to start the tenth. A leadoff error put runners on the corners for the Tides, and a subsequent walk loaded the bases with no outs, immediately putting the Sounds under pressure. Liranzo managed to secure the first out with a strikeout, but the go-ahead run crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly to left field. Hall, playing in left, made a strong throw home, but it arrived just moments too late to prevent the runner from scoring.
Norfolk then extended their lead decisively. With two outs and a full count, they blasted a three-run home run, pushing the score to a commanding 10-4. The Sounds faced a significant uphill battle in the bottom of the tenth but were only able to muster two runs, ultimately falling short in a dramatic contest.
Hall, leading off for the Sounds on the night, went 0 for 5 from the plate in the extra-inning affair. Despite his efforts in left field, he was unable to contribute offensively as the Sounds dropped the second game of the homestand to the Tides.
