Adam Hall and his Nashville Sounds teammates broke through late in a tight contest, scoring four unanswered runs to secure a 4-1 victory on Friday night. The game was largely a pitcher's duel for the first five innings, but the Sounds' offense came alive just in time, backing another stellar performance on the mound from Logan Henderson.
Henderson continued his impressive form for Nashville, delivering his second consecutive quality start in Triple-A. However, for much of the game, he was locked in a tight battle with Gwinnett Stripers' starter Nathan Wiles.
Wiles was magnificent through the opening five frames, setting a new career-high with an impressive 10 strikeouts. The Sounds' offense was largely stifled, managing just two hits in their first five at-bats and stranding two runners in scoring position in the second inning.
The game took a dramatic turn in the top of the sixth inning. Andruw Monasterio led off with a one-out double, before Wiles recorded his 11th strikeout. Just one pitch away from completing six scoreless innings, Oliver Dunn finally broke the deadlock for the Sounds, launching a two-run home run to give Nashville the lead and ultimately saddle Wiles with the loss. The Sounds weren't done there – two pitches later, Clarke followed suit with his fourth home run of the season, going back-to-back with Dunn to extend Nashville's lead to 3-1.
Hall had a quiet night at the plate for the majority of the game, finishing 1 for 4. However, he made his presence felt on the basepaths. In the top of the seventh, after reaching base on a fielder's choice, Hall stole second base, his fifth steal of the season.
Then, with two outs in the top of the ninth, Hall delivered a sharp line drive single to left field. Showing his speed once again, he promptly stole second base, his sixth of the campaign. Moments later, Jimmy Herron singled on a line drive to right field, allowing Hall to race home and extend the Sounds' lead to the final score of 4-1. Hall's late contributions on the basepaths proved crucial in securing the victory for Nashville.
