Day 1 of the Bermuda Squash Association Club Championships delivered intense action and thrilling finishes, with two matches going the distance in five-set battles at the Bermuda Squash Association Club in Devonshire.
In the Men's Open Division, Benjamin Bramlett and Daniel Ringer engaged in a back-and-forth encounter that kept fans on the edge of their seats. Bramlett ultimately emerged victorious, but not before Ringer pushed him to the limit. The final scoreline read 9-11, 11-6, 11-4, 4-11, 11-7, reflecting the see-saw nature of the match.
The Men's B Division also witnessed a five-set marathon, with Manjit Varwandkar outlasting David Soutter in a thrilling contest. Varwandkar took the first set, but Soutter responded by winning the second. Varwandkar regained control in the third, only for Soutter to level the match again in the fourth. In the decisive fifth set, Varwandkar dug deep to secure an 11-8 victory and advance in the tournament.
In the lone Women's Open match of the day, Joann Bielby dominated Mckenna Kyme, winning in straight sets 11-4, 11-5, 11-8. Bielby's impressive performance showcased her skill and precision on the court.
