The Bermuda Squash & Racquets Club have announced the 2009 Digicel Blackberry National Squash Championships.
The National Squash Championships will begin February 14 and will run through to February 21st and is open to all Bermuda Residents.
Director of Squash at the club and also defending champion Patrick Foster said, “This is the biggest tournament of the year, we have Mens Open, Ladies Open, Mens Over 45’s, Ladies Over 40’s events”.
Foster will be attempting to win for 4th consecutive year, while Ladies defending champion Denise Sommers is in a race to be fit.. Sommers will be undergoing surgery on January 23rd and has been told she need 3 weeks to recover… could be close! She is attempting to win 3 in a row.
Nick Kyme has already signed up, James Stout has not confirmed yet), while Tommy Sherratt, Mel Caines and Micah Franklin will all be chasing the title.
Liz Martin, Leah Bishop and Denise Kyme are all hungry for the Ladies Title.
