Horsfield Finishes 3rd in Canada Cup Opener

Robin Horsfield opened his Canada Cup Season with a podium finishing 3rd at Hardwood Hills in Ontario.

Competing on a Short Track, Horsfield crossed the line in a time of 22:42.7 in the 19-34 Men’s Elite Group Division.

BBA Time Trial Race Notice to Motorist

The Ministry of Public Works wishes to inform motorists that the Bermuda Bicycle Association Individual Time Trial will occur on Sunday, May 26th, 2024, between 7:30 am and 8:30 am.

The following roads will be affected:

The Adult and Junior Categories commence and conclude on Kindley Field Road. The participants head East toward the Swing Bride roundabout and onto St. David's Road. They continue to Great Bay Road, turning left onto Cashew City Road. The participants traverse the cul-de-sac and turn left to return to Great Bay Road. They continue to St. David's Road, head toward the roundabout, and exit onto Kindley Field Road.

They proceed along Kindley Field Road to the airport roundabout, exiting onto The Causeway and heading West along Blue Hole Hill. The participants proceed around the roundabout at Blue Hole Hill to head back East along Blue Hole Hill onto The Causeway to return to the finish line on Kindley Field Road.

The Youth Categories commence and conclude on Kindley Field Road. The participants head east on Kindley Field to turn around the Swing Bridge roundabout and head west down Kindley Field Road toward the airport roundabout, exiting onto The Causeway and heading west along Blue Hole Hill.

The participants proceed around the roundabout at Blue Hole Hill to head back East along Blue Hole Hill onto The Causeway to return to the finish line on Kindley Field Road.

The Bicycle Race will commence on Sunday, May 26th, 2024, at 7:30 am and is expected to conclude by 8:30 am. All motorists are expected to use caution and to avoid collision with race participants. The race route will be under the control of Race Marshals. Motorists must follow the instructions from the Race Marshals to assist with traffic control for this event.

There will be no roads closed to traffic while the time trial takes place.

The Ministry of Public Works wishes to encourage the full cooperation of the motoring public and apologizes for any inconvenience that may result. Should there be any questions regarding this event, please direct queries to the attention of the race representative, Andrew Charlesworth at #703-2162.

In addition, the Bermuda police are hereby authorized to "Close off' streets or portions of streets and authorize parking as the Commissioner of Police decides.

VT Construction Criterium Round Up

A total of 36 riders competed in the VT Construction Criterium at the Southside Motor Sports Park.

Matt Boys was the only competitor in the Adult A Division he clocked a winning time of 36:56.041, while Wendy-Ann Thomas was the only competitor in the Women’s Open race clocking 30:35.923.

Stephen Ryan won the Adult B Division race with a time of 37:05.926, Darren Glasford was second in 37:20.522, and Alan Mooney finished third clocking 37:20.710.

The Adult C Division was won by Gordon Smith who clocked 29:11.040, Frank Ming was second in 29:15.941, and Daniel Ringer finished third clocking a time of 29:16.846.

Hopkins Competes in 73rd Flèche du Sud Road Race

Kaden Hopkins competed in the 73rd Flèche du Sud Road Race in France, covering a distance of 127.2km.

Hopkins crossed the line 102nd clocking a time of 3:35:31, finishing 18:13 behind the Stage winner Pim Ronhaar.

After Three Stages, Hopkins is now 104th overall clocking a combined time of 9:04:31, he is 23:56 behind the overall leader Ronhaar.

Narraway Finishes 6th in Collegiate Road National Championships

Nicholas Narraway and his Fort Lewis College Cycling teammates competed in the 2024 Collegiate Road National Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The three-day event consisted of a Team Time Trial, a Road Race, and a Criterium.

As a team, Fort Lewis College finished 2nd with 430 points, with Colorado Mesa University crowned Champions with 446 points. After the three combined races, Narraway finished 6th overall

In the Team Time Trial, Narraway and his teammates finished 2nd clocking a time of 35:15.54.

In the Road Race, Narraway would cross the line 7th overall clocking a time of 2:23:10, he would finish 13 seconds behind the Stage Winner his teammate Luca Haines.

Narraway would finish 20th in the Criterium clocking a time of 1:20:46, he finished 2 minutes and 14 seconds behind the Stage Winner Jonas Walton of Belmont Abbey College.
