Hands & Cechini are Waterfront Wellness 5K Champions

Christopher Hands and Gabriella Cechini were crowned the 2024 Waterfront Wellness 5K Run Male and Female Champions.

Hands crossed the line in a time of 17:27, Philip Woolins was second in 17:48, and Joseph Cechini finished third clocking 18:14.

Gabriella Cechini was 5th overall clocking 19:15, Stepanka Springcova was the second female finisher and 6th overall with a time of 19:55, and Teresa Ruiz was the third female finisher and 9th overall with a time of 20:25.

Outerbridge Shines at Northeast-10 Championships

Ryan Outerbridge and his Franklin Pierce Men’s Track and Field teammates competed in the Northeast-10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Outerbridge would have an outstanding event, he would first win the Men's 1500 Meters clocking a time of 3:55.60.

During the Men's 5000 Meters, Outerbridge finished 6th with a time of 15:22.44.

Stopping the clock at 9:17.13, Outerbridge would win the Men's 3000 Meters Steeplechase.

Outerbridge would then anchor the Franklin Pierce Men's 4 x 800 Meters Relay team that clocked a winning time of 7:59.35.

Armstrong Competes in MAAC Championships

Nathan Armstrong and his Rider University Men's Track and Field teammates competed in the 2024 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Michael P. Brady Track & Field Complex.

Armstrong finished 14th in the Men’s 800 Meter Preliminaries clocking 1:57.36.

Marshall & Lindsay Win Sir Stanley Burgess 5K

Lamont Marshall and Gayle Lindsay were crowned the Bermuda Healthcare Sir Stanley Burgess 5K Male and Female Champions.

Both winners were awarded $1,250.00 each for being the first to cross the finish line in their respective divisions.

Marshall had a commanding performance clocking a time of 15:28. Sean Trott was second in 16:41, and Adam Prunty was third in 16:48.

Lindsay clocked a winning time of 18:13 finishing 7th overall, Estienne Coetzee was the second female finisher and 10th overall clocking 18:40, and the third female finisher was Megan Berry who clocked 20:14 finishing 23rd overall.

In addition to retaining her title, Lindsay set a new personal best time, shaving 30 seconds off her 2023 win time.

BHCS Chairman Dr. Ewart Brown commented on Lindsay's victory, "We congratulate Gayle on retaining the first-place adult female title in record time for the third consecutive year. We wish her continued success." Dr. Brown added, "Lamont Marshall continues to excel, and his victory today strengthens his reputation as one of Bermuda's greatest runners. Our best wishes to him for continued success."

Dr. Brown continued, "Bermuda HealthCare Services is committed to supporting sports throughout the community, and we are delighted to note that the number of race participants has increased throughout our three-year sponsorship."

BHCS to Award Prize Money for Sir Stanley Burgess Race

The Bermuda HealthCare (BHCS) Sir Stanley Burgess 5k Race takes place on Sunday, May 5, 2024, and features $2500 in prize money split equally between the 1st place adult male and 1st place adult female runners.

The running race starts at the Clyde Best Centre for Excellence in Prospect at 8.30 am.

BHCS is proud to continue its Title Sponsorship of The Bermuda HealthCare Sir Stanley Burgess 5k Race, the final race in the iconic Legends Series organized annually by Swan's Running Club.

Dr. Ewart Brown, Executive Chairman of BHCS, stated, "Sir Stanley Burgess was my neighbor in Flatts. I always admired his dedication and determination to succeed. At Bermuda HealthCare, we try every day to work with the same dedication and determination to deliver first-class health care to our patients. We are proud to work with Swan Running Club to promote good health and wellness."

A Swans Running Club official stated, "We are thankful for Bermuda HealthCare Services' sponsorship of the Sir Stanley Burgess 5K Race for three consecutive years. Legends such as Sir Stanley Burgess have contributed to the sport's popularity. This year's race has already attracted over 150 entrants and runners are signing up daily. Organizers and spectators alike are excited to see who will win this year's race and claim the top combined prize of $2,500."
