IslandStats.com
The Bermuda Hockey Academy’s Islanders Two team began their third season in the North East Field Hockey Association league with two hard fought games.

In the first match against Rye Field Hockey Club, the score ended 3-3 after a wild and exciting back and forth game which saw a bit of everything from controversial penalty being award to Rye, two goals being disallowed by umpires against Islanders and the game tying goal being scored on the last play of the game.

In the 21st first minute the Islanders thought they had taken the lead when the ball ended in the back of the net after a well-executed short corner routine. However the Umpire ruled that the ball did not leave the circle and disallowed the goal.

The Islander thought they had taken the lead again a minute later off an own goal but the umpire rule that the shot by Islanders was outside the shooting circle and not inside the circle and thus disallowed the goal.

Rye would open the scoring against the run of play in the 29th minute with a field goal. Islanders would tie the score in the 32nd minute on a field goal by Michail Ming-Woodley. Just before the end of the first half Rye was awarded a Penalty Stroke which they converted after the umpired ruled that the ball had hit the Islanders defenders hand off a shot at goal by Rye.

Islanders would tie the game in the 41st minute on a field goal by Donovan Simmons. Islanders applied a high press and were rewarded for their efforts when Jordan Etemadi stole the ball off the defender and slip the ball over to Simmons who slotted the ball past the keeper. Rye would take the lead again in the 66th minute with a quick counter attack goal off of an unsuccessful penalty corner routine by Islanders. Islanders would tied the game on the last touch of the game on a penalty corner goal by Donovan Simmons on a well worked short corner routine.

In the second match of the weekend Islanders Two defeated Greenwich Two by the score of 3-0. Islander put on a strong performance throughout the match scoring goals in the 33rd minute off a penalty corner by Zahyinde Lightbourne-Cann and in the 40th and 55th minutes on Field Goals by Simmons.
