Maha Clarke and her Queens University of Charlotte Field Hockey teammates fell 5-3 at Belmont Abbey College splitting the home-and-home series this season.
Queens were outshot 20-12, putting seven shots on goal to Belmont Abbey's 13. Mazvita Mtisi led the Queens attack totaling five shots on the day, two being shots on goal. Korey Fineadded a pair of shots as well. Goalkeeper Miranda Childers tallied eight saves in the cage.
Queens found itself trailing, 2-0, 20 minutes into action, but a goal from Jill Sherman in the 27thwould cut the deficit in half. The 2-1 score then remained until the halftime break.
In the second, Belmont Abbey struck just 1:21 into the half when a shot from Kayley Williams found the back of the cage. Queens found an answer when Fine scored in the 55th, but another goal from Belmont Abbey would come soon after putting them in front, 4-2. Mtisi followed with another for Queens 20 seconds after Belmont Abbey scored to bring the visiting team within one, 4-3, but her goal would be in the final of the day for Queens as Belmont Abbey were able to find an insurance goal in the 63rd to secure the win.
