North East Field Hockey Association (NEFHA) is the home of Men's and Women's Club Field Hockey in and around the New York area.
For over thirty years, the Association has provided the opportunity for competitive Field Hockey as well as the development of the sport for both Men and Women, Joining this year is a Bermuda Hockey Academy High Performance team.
The brainchild of former Bermuda Hockey Federation President Mark Mello, who has worked hard in building trust in the North East Field Hockey Association (NEFHA) for Bermuda to be given a chance to compete.
Mello said, “I want to give these youngsters the opportunity to improve their game, playing in this League will help us gauge where we are at.”
Donnie Simmons is hoping that this experience improves the standard locally, “I am really hoping that these youngsters understand this chance of a lifetime, i hope they take all the information presented to them and gain the experience”.
The Bermuda Hockey Academy’s high performance program have teamed up with New York Islanders with most of the Bermuda players playing on the Islander II squad with a couple be given an opportunity to play on the Islander I squad as well.
