Maha Clarke and her Queen’s University of Charlotte Women’s Field Hockey teammates opened their season falling 7-2 to No. 8 Bloomsburg University. The game was also the first official game played on Bessant Field.
Mazvita Mtisi scored the first official goal for Queen’s University of Charlotte on Bessant Field in the 81st minute of play, while Kayleigh Lawrence scored their second goal in the 85th minute. Kelsey Fringer totaled nine saves in the cage for Queen’s University of Charlotte.
Bloomsburg outshot Queen’s University of Charlotte 17-2 in the first half of the game, taking a 4-0 lead heading into the break.
Bloomsburg then opened the second half with a pair of goals to move ahead 6-0 before Queens' Mtisi and Lawrence scored back-to-back points for the home team. Bloomsburg would find their final goal of the day off of a penalty corner in the 67th minute to give the game its final score of 7-2.
Queen’s University of Charlotte were outshot 28-9 as Bloomsburg put 17 shots on goal. Bloomsburg also won nine penalty corners to Queens' two.
