Houston Aeros 11 Indianapolis Racers 10
The Houston Aeros after leading 8 – 5 at the end of the second period was able to hang on for an 11 – 10 win over the Indianapolis Racers in the opener. The Houston Aeros got 6 goals from Christopher Jackson, Ian Beaudoin and David Provost scored two goals each with Jeff Morash adding the other. JM Tremblay scored 5 times for the Indianapolis Racers, Chriss Merritt and Matt Fullerton both added two goals each and Yan Leclerc added the other.
Phoenix Roadrunners 9 New England Whalers 3
In the night cap the Phoenix Roadrunners jumped out to and early 3 – 1 lead in the first period and never looked back recording a 9 – 3 win over the New England Whalers. Jeremy Estey scored 5 goals to lead the Phoenix Roadrunners to victory with Bill Calko scoring twice, Warren Millar and Ryan Wilson added a goal each, while the New England Whalers got singles strikes from Jeff Smith, Pete Brodsky and Adam Mattatall.
