The Bermuda National Rugby team found the going tough right from the outset in this North American Caribbean Rugby Association (NACRA) Championship match as they paid for several short falls going down 24 – 14 to USA South at the National Sports Centre.
With all the attention put on a show staged Rugby match at the end of the month the Bermuda National team were overlooked in the lead up to this big match.
Bermuda’s captain Peter Dunkerley hed the game up early after receiving a cut to the face in the first exchange of the match.
Lucas Baistrocchi kicked a penalty early in the match to give the visitors the 3 – 0 lead, Bermuda missed a chance to level the score but their penalty kick attempted went wide. The USA South then went ahead 10 – 0 after Derek Wolfe went over for a Try, with Baistrocchi kicking the Conversion.
Bermuda got on the scoreboard when Mikey Williams went over for a Tryand when Andre Landy kicked the Conversion it made the score 10 – 7.
In the second half, USA South got Try’s Kirk Swanner and Ty Elkins, while Baistrochhi added two more Conversions, while Bermuda got a Try from Jahan Cedenio and Thomas Edwards kicked the Conversion but USA South held on and defeated Bermuda.
