News has surfaced that Trinidad & Tobago have dropped out of the 2018 Rugby Americas North Championships Regional Qualifiers.
This means Bermuda are in a one-game playoff with Cayman Islands in Cayman on Saturday June 9th.
The match will be Cayman Island’s opening game of the qualifying stage. Bermuda was defeated heavily by USA South in their opener and then they went down to Trinidad & Tobago, so with Trinidad & Tobago pulling out, combined with USA South ineligible to advance due to it’s developmental status for it’s National Men’s team, this game has a winner take all advancement.
Cayman has defeated Bermuda the past two years, both home and away.
If Bermuda win on Saturday, they will play the winner of Guyana and Mexico in early 2019. The winner of that playoff advances to the newly formed 2019 Rugby Americas Challenge.
