Warwick Academy-Bermuda Institute Are Champions
Following 6 weeks of trainings, including every Sunday, the Warwick Academy-Bermuda Institute Select team arrived at National Stadium undefeated in regular league play ready to compete in the Bermuda School Rugby Knock-Out Stage of League competition.

The Warwick Academy/Bermuda Institute Select started the evening off with a convincing win 24 – 5 against Cedarbridge Academy.

After a good build up the Warwick Academy/Bermuda Institute Select took the lead when Nathanial Simmons sprinted in for the first Try of the game.

Cameron Foote who was last seasons top try scorer doubled the lead going in under the posts to score the first of his two Try’s on the night.

The third try was a result of storming runs by Anaya Smith, Kaiser Dill and Joe Arrowsmith finished off by Ben Crayford 2 yards out from the line.

At the final whistle it ended the Warwick Academy/Bermuda Institute Select had scored four tries to one, with two conversions successfully made by the team’s kicker Matthew Daniel.

In the final match of the league the Warwick Academy/Bermuda Institute Select boys took on Saltus in an epic battle for the championship in a dramatic Final.

This was an extremely physical game against a much larger Saltus side that saw the Warwick Academy/Bermuda Institute Select win 33-0.

The Warwick Academy/Bermuda Institute Select got off to a quick start, in the first minute of the game Carmeron Foote scoring under the posts, however the conversion was missed they were up 5-0.

The second Try of the night came about from the quick thinking Anaya Smith who grabbed the Saltus overthrow from the lineout and drove up field making 15 yards. From the ensuing ruck Ben Crayford picked the ball and ran across the defensive line drawing in players before passing to Alex Dowling who ran a great line and scored easily under the post. Matthew Daniel converted to make the score of 12-0.

From a lineout Warwick forward Anaya Smith excellently executed the “pull back pass” which had been implemented in the attack to suck in the back line defenders before releasing the looping Mathew Daniel who put Alex Dowling into space and he ran through to score his second try of the match. The conversion was made making the score 19-0.

Going into the second half, the boys knew that Saltus was looking for a dramatic comeback. However, Foote quickly changed any thoughts as he sprinted down the wing to the corner of the try line, he was tackled around the neck and the referee awarded a Penalty Try making the score 26-0.

The final Try of the night came from a great individual effort by Alex Dowling who stripped the ball in a tackle and danced around 5 Saltus players to the score under the posts for the final score of the night of 33-0.
