Brynley Toms and his Bedwas teammates completed their pre-season preparations in a keenly fought 36 - 17 win at Trebanos on a cool, breezy August afternoon.
With the wind at their backs Bedwas started at a fast pace, Ross Wardle opening the scoring after just five minutes.
Adam Williams burst through from deep to double the advantage five minutes later, Steffan Jones adding the Conversion. Bedwas dominance was rewarded with a further unconverted Try by Mathew John before the home side hit back with a well worked try by Morgan Evans, Laurence Howley adding the conversion.
Bedwas’ first half work was not complete as Mathew John notched a second try again improved upon by Steffan Jones before the home sides’ Kieran Waitman crossed to make the half time score 24 - 12.
Bedwas made a raft of changes and took their time to find some rhythm in the second half, the home side who played well throughout added a third (unconverted) try by Chris Forshaw.
Bedwas were not going to be denied as Luke Crane added a try under the sticks after sprinting 50 metres, Steffan Jones adding the extras before Kurtis Haile added the final try out wide just before the final whistle to complete the scoring.
